Rosie Pettenon

My practice moves between and at times combines oil painting and sculpture, circling around how stories are told, re-learned, and re-captured.

In recent work, dance is investigated as a form of storytelling that simultaneously masks and reveals – where surfaces of elegance and glamour often veil complexities. The work aims to reflect this duality of how costumes, lighting, and stage become inseparable from the choreography itself.

The colour yellow, a recurring motif of mine, punctuates this world as both a literal and symbolic light. Through it, I attempt to capture moments that hover between distance and intimacy, beauty, and tension, inviting the viewer to step into an image that is always already mediated, yet still alive.
