Peter Spring

My practice explores knitting as both a bodily performance and an act of endurance. The repetitive rhythm of looping yarn becomes more than a craft; it is a way of marking time and tracing presence. By knitting in public spaces across the city, I invite moments of connection with strangers. These encounters open up conversations that might otherwise be overlooked, allowing shared stories and voices to surface within the flow of everyday life.

I document not only the conversations but also myself in the act of knitting. Each site carries its own atmosphere, shaping the interactions and the way I am seen. Alongside the knitted work, I record locations, times, and personal reflections through journaling. Together, these layers form a practice that is not just about producing an object but about weaving memory, conversation, and performance into one shared fabric.
