You haven’t made it too far when you see it. A strange feeling hits—your brain can’t compute. It looks like a bird; therefore, it must be a bird. But it’s not a bird.
A figure, stretching in real time, slips in and out of her own skin. It’s all-consuming. A step to the left and you’d miss it.
The mirror saw the whole thing.
