Kate Murrell
My practice contends with nihilism towards the current political and social climate, moving between an unbound realm of antagonism, antipathy and the non-real. My work imagines a cognitive dissonance that employs the paradox of existentialism, using printmaking to relay the nuances of my own experience. Through my practice I attempt to decipher ‘sense’ literally and figuratively, via a process of deconstructing the world around me by colliding iconography and art history with a subversive juxtaposition of dark, incongruous humour.
