Clara Chanisheff
In my work I seek to investigate the chemical infrastructures that shape institutional life. Collaborating with the Metabolomic’s Lab, I employ gas chromatography–mass spectrometry to trace the unseen currents of chemical matter ciphered in cleaning products, revealing the silent codes that move through bodies and environments, and letting perception unfold along lines we cannot yet articulate. These molecules constitute unseen architectures through attuning bodies and matter, to the silent logics of institutional spaces.
Scent functions as both material and critique; destabilising the assumed neutrality of science while tracing the cultural and political rationale embedded within chemical networks: we are implicated in molecular structures. I aim to render these systems tangible, urging audiences to pay attention to the latent frameworks that shape our sensing and response.
