Chris Parkinson

These images are examples of the indexical, interpretive and abstract documentations of my research, A TEMPORARY LANDING PLACE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE INDONESIAN ART COLLECTIVE, SURVIVE! GARAGE, THROUGH RHYTHM.

The research links a global history of art collectives to Indonesian creative practices through the sociological framework of Henri Lefebvre’s Rhtyhmanalysis. The research’s visual practice probes rhythm as a creative process.

The creative outcomes of my research are indebted to the metaphors of reflection, refraction and repetition that emerged through ‘The Window’ of my computer screen during ethnographic research conducted over Zoom. These documentations condense cumulative, rhythmic processes and refractive methods into objects of polyphonic composition.
