Caoife Power (b. 1993, Eire Ireland/ 1997, Eora Sydney, Australia) currently lives and works in Narrm, Melbourne.


My painting practice is located within the language of abstraction as an active force of deviation. I approach abstraction not from a position of determinacy, rather as a form of queering that can speak to: body, colour, and environment. An embodied ‘wild’ subjectivity drives my process, unpacking how contemporary society can sit within the body and impact its movement through the world. Using gestural abstraction, I am not interested in resolution, but rather coming into painting from a place of resistance, desire and recognition that remains finding.
